Laboratory Management System

The LMS is divided into the frontend which is the public portal for clients and Backend for organization staff to process samples.

LMS Frontend

Home page.

Clients login to the system through their email which redirects them to the LMS frontend to start their sample application process.

The LMS homepage, has five main modules;

  1. Apply for testing – An applicant clicks on this link to apply for sample testing
  2. Submitted tests – Where the client can find all the tests he/she previously submitted and the test report issued by the organization
  3. My invoices – This module displays all the invoices the client has paid for each and every test he/ she has applied for through the LMS
  4. Need Help – This is a support tool that helps an applicant communicate with the organization on the difficulties he/she is experiencing when applying for testing
  5. User manual – This is the LMS manual users can download and review to familiarize themselves with the client testing procedures.

Of utmost importance is the Apply for testing module where the client fills the template details requested by client and submits.

Apply for testing.

The apply for testing module is categorized into five sections;

  1. Project details – These are the details of the client
  2. Services and samples – The client defines the sample to be tested.
  3. Assign tests – In this section all the tests that can be done on a particular sample are displayed and the client selects only the tests he/she wants performed on the sample.
  4. Sample requirements – This section describes and displays to the client how various samples should be packaged
  5. Payment – This module display all the available payment options

The client then submits his/her tests, and the application is forwarded to the LMS Backend.

LMS Backend.

The LMS Backend portal menu has five modules’ Dashboards, Approvals, Assets, Reports and Access.

The most important module is Approvals, this is where payment is verified, samples are checked, results capture, report generation, report review and report release to clients is done.

Approvals

The Approval module has four sub-modules:

  1. Job Card Workflow – This is where the payment is verified by the accounts clerk then approved by Chief Accounts.
  2. Laboratory Workflow – This is where test allocation, results capture, results verification, reporting and report release to the client portal is done.
  3. Tools – This is mostly system admin section, where further checks on payment issues or any client related challenges are done.
  4. Payment – This section lists the applications, either submitted or pending payment/submit, and you can filter by date, client, invoice number, etc.
